What we collect when you enter the giveaway, why we collect it, and how to get it removed. Short, because we collect very little.

Who this is about
This page covers the Sound the Alarm campaign site, run by the Surrey Fire Fighters Association, IAFF Local 1271, 18922 88 Avenue, Surrey, BC V4N 5T2, 604-574-5785.
What we collect
If you enter the giveaway we collect your first and last name, your email address, your Surrey postal code, and optionally the area of Surrey you live in. That is all the entry form asks for.
We do not collect your date of birth, your address, or your phone number. Confirming you are 18 or older is a tick box, not a document.
Why we collect it
Your name and email let us run the draw and contact the winner. Your postal code lets us confirm you live in Surrey, which is an eligibility condition. The area field helps us understand which parts of the city are engaged, and it is optional.
The mailing list is separate from the entry
Entering the giveaway and joining the campaign mailing list happen together. When you enter, we email you a confirmation link, and clicking it both completes your entry and adds you to the campaign mailing list. You can unsubscribe at any time and that does not affect your entry.
Every email we send carries an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately.
Where it is held
The list is held in Mailchimp, which stores and processes data on servers outside Canada, including in the United States. Data held outside Canada may be accessible to foreign authorities under the laws of those countries.
Who we share it with
Nobody. We do not sell, rent, trade or share the list. It is not shared with any candidate, elector organization, political party, or any other campaign.
Mailchimp processes the data on our behalf in order to deliver the emails. That is the only third party involved.
How long we keep it
Campaign emails end after October 17, 2026.
What this site measures
One tool runs on this site. Google Analytics counts visits and tells us which pages people read and how they got here, so we can see whether the campaign is reaching anyone.
There is no advertising tracker on this site. No Meta pixel, no Google Ads tag, no remarketing. We do not build audiences out of your visit, and we do not follow you around other sites.
Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and sends what it collects to Google, which stores and processes it outside Canada. We do not send it your name, your email address or your entry. You can switch it off with Google's own browser add-on.
You can change your mind whenever you like. Change your choice.
Getting your information removed
Email sffa@iaff1271.org or call 604-574-5785 and ask. We will remove you from the list and, if you ask, delete your entry record. Deleting your entry record before the draw means you are no longer in the draw.
Under British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act you can also ask what personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it.
What this campaign is
Sound the Alarm is issue advocacy about fire service staffing, fire hall coverage and voter turnout. It does not endorse any candidate or party. Entering the giveaway is not a political contribution, and joining the list does not make you a member of the Association.
